- ➤ Andrew Lawler's book A Perfect Frenzy uses primary sources to argue that the Patriots burned Norfolk in early 1776—he also says British emancipation efforts stirred the Revolution. - ➤ Norfolk officials asked Tides fans to use free public transit to reach games this season as casino construction reduced parking at Harbor Park—options include two hours free on the Tide light rail, park-and-ride lots, and a new Elizabeth River Ferry service beginning one hour before games. - ➤ Norfolk State head basketball coach Robert Jones signed his contract extension through the 2031—32 season on Friday afternoon. He built a 236—159 record in 12 seasons while winning five MEAC regular-season titles and four tournament crowns with the Spartans. Daily Press
- ➤ On Friday, Opening Day for the Norfolk Tides, general manager Joe Gregory said fans paid $16 for general admission while seniors got tickets for $14 and kids under two were free if they did not have their own seat — these prices kept the night cost-effective. He added that food prices rose by 50 cents to $1, with items like hot dogs, sodas, and popcorn costing about $6, and that the park used a cashless system for safety and to reduce errors — fans with cash could convert it to a gift card at the front office. 3 WTKR
