ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ LS Cable & System will invest $689M in a new manufacturing complex in Chesapeake to create over 430 jobs and produce copper rods, magnet wire and rare earth magnets to cut reliance on imports; Gov. Glenn Youngkin said the investment is separate from the LS Greenlink facility due in 2027. 3 WTKR

- ➤ Gov. Youngkin highlighted progress in improving the mental health system with his Right Help, Right Now initiative at the Library of Virginia — mobile crisis teams have grown from 36 to 110 in Hampton Roads and 30,000 new healthcare workers have joined while 834 beds are planned. 3 WTKR
- ➤ The Navy is moving forward with an environmental impact statement to consider basing up to 70 F-35C fighters at Naval Air Station Oceana — replacing its existing F/A-18 squadrons. The agency is accepting public input over the next 30 days as officials plan facility modifications. 3 WTKR
- ➤ USS Forrest Sherman returned to Norfolk Naval Station on Friday afternoon after a 7-month deployment with the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group. Navy officials said the guided-missile destroyer participated in 11 exercises + nine port visits and completed nearly 300 flight deck landings. 13 News Now
- ➤ Starting overnight Dec. 14, I-64 westbound in Norfolk will have a revised lane pattern from Tidewater Drive to Little Creek Road as part of the Express Lanes project; temporary ramp closures (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.) may cause delays until mid-2026. City of Norfolk
