Since Thursday, residents of the Calvert Square public housing complex have lacked heat as a trench leak cut hot water flow to radiators; Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority provided heaters and will send contractors through the weekend to restore warmth and offer hotel stays for vulnerable families (with health risks).

The Crafted Green live workshop series will host a free event on Monday, Dec.

8 at Keep Norfolk Beautiful (3500-A Granby St.) from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where attendees will create unique stamps and learn hand printing techniques on upcycled materials with all supplies provided.

Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield will open early next year to bring accessible health care to residents who previously drove long distances for emergency services & specialty care.
