  • A Norfolk family lost their home when a Saturday morning fire destroyed everything on Buckingham Avenue but all were safe and a fundraiser led by Erin McCabe raised over $105K in two days—far above the $50K goal—to support their recovery.  13 News Now

  • Wasserhund Brewing opened a new taproom on Granby Street in the Railroad District’s Park Place on Veterans Day—preserving historic tile floors and local art while offering German-style beers and pizza. The brewery plans to support the neighborhood with a fundraiser for Village Family and will serve non-alcoholic and THC drinks to welcome all residents.  3 WTKR

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Dec 13, the MacArthur Memorial in downtown Norfolk will host Santa from 10 a.m. to noon— guests can then join a Brick Figure Scavenger Hunt, fold origami paper crane ornaments, and make cards for veterans—with all activities free and no registration needed.  Hampton Roads Messenger
  • The Broadway show & Juliet will play at Chrysler Hall from Dec. 3-6, offering a new twist on the classic tale where Juliet finds a chance for a happy ending after Romeo's death.   • An ODU professor received a $2 million NIH grant to create AI tools that help doctors detect dangerous brain tumors without invasive biopsies—his team will work with hospitals nationwide to analyze MRI images.
