- ➤ The Norfolk Animal Care Center is asking for foster homes for dogs to ease shelter overcrowding ahead of Thanksgiving and during construction in December—foster pickup begins today with dogs returning Nov. 29 and extended care needed from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15. WAVY

- ➤ Amtrak is preparing for a busy holiday travel season by adding extra train cars and on-site ambassadors at stations along the Northeast corridor to help passengers. The company saw a 5% increase in ridership last year when it served over 34 million riders and expects to beat its record of 144,000 passengers on the Sunday after Thanksgiving (from last year). WAVY
