- ➤ WAVY-TV 10—partnering with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore—will host the Feeding Hampton Roads food drive today at the Pembroke Square parking lot in Virginia Beach from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., accepting nonperishable foods, baby supplies, and monetary donations as the community feels the impact of a federal shutdown. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Norfolk casino operators — including Boyd Gaming and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe — received a gaming license by unanimous decision from the Virginia Lottery Board on Wednesday and must open by Nov. 15. The Interim Gaming Hall — a giant tent on Park Avenue with over 130 slot machines — will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. until a permanent casino opens in late 2027. WAVY

- ➤ The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission voted Tuesday to cut the coastwide menhaden catch limit by 20% for next season to protect striped bass & balance industry and environmental concerns.
