- ➤ Geno’s Steaks will open its first Virginia location at Power Plant Hampton Roads this winter and serve famous Philly cheesesteaks with a full-service bar—featuring arcade games and a scenic waterfront patio. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norfolk Police Department joins the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in observing National School Bus Safety Week from October 20 to 24 to remind drivers and parents to follow safe practices near school buses and stops. - ➤ City officials lowered the speed limit on Granby Street from 35 mph to 30 mph on Tuesday and repurposed one lane in each direction into a bike lane from Willow Wood Drive to Admiral Taussing Boulevard—local cyclists said the change made riding safer. WAVY
- ➤ Norfolk removed a $400k beach ramp at Ocean View designed for first responders due to extreme erosion—engineers said the demolition will last until late October as materials are repurposed for repair projects and a sand replenishment effort may be planned when federal funding resumes.
