- ➤ Amazon will provide $51 refunds to eligible Prime customers who signed up through the Challenged Enrollment Flow from June 2019 to June 2025 after an FTC settlement penalized the company for misleading sign-up practices—customers who use no more than three Prime benefits a year will receive automatic payments while others need to file claims within 180 days. 3 WTKR

- ➤ The Virginia Beach SPCA took in 13 dogs from animal cruelty cases across Maryland, Indiana, and Tennessee—seven rescued from a breeder and suspected dogfighting operation and six from a severe neglect case, with staff now giving them medical care and shelter until adoption. WAVY

- ➤ Norfolk's Virginia Zoo announced a partnership with a local craft brewery that will offer two exclusive beers—Otter Lager with herbal and floral notes and Tiger Trail Ale with apricot flavor—at zoo restaurants with custom 16oz cans designed by Norfolk artist Erik Leach. - ➤ The Virginia Board of Education raised SOL cut scores and projections show that fourth-graders will see reading pass rates drop from 73% to roughly 40%—with math scores falling similarly. - ➤ Scientists explain that tropical cyclones can interact when they come within 800 to 900 miles of each other—sometimes causing one storm to alter the other's path. - ➤ Life’s Journey opened a new crisis center at 1003 Norfolk Square that provides mental health and substance abuse care for the homeless. Funded through Medicaid and having served over 400 people since May, the center offers food, showers, therapy and referrals—meeting a critical community need. WAVY
- ➤ Aditya Chakraborty, an assistant professor at Old Dominion and Norfolk State, has developed a Disease Forecasting Model that uses CDC data on 14 causes — diabetes, stroke, heart disease—to predict health crises in Hampton Roads.
