- ➤ Mary 'Maggie' Cleary was named acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District after Erik Siebert resigned amid pressure to charge New York Attorney General Letitia James in a mortgage fraud probe — she had previously been cleared after being falsely blamed for being at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — and she now leads an office caught in political turmoil. She will oversee the investigation as it remains open. 13 News Now
