- ➤ Norfolk police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect linked to two commercial burglaries on Waterside Drive—one that took place at 333 Waterside Drive on Aug. 18 and another at 999 E Waterside Drive on Aug. 22. WAVY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A pre-festival summit took place Friday at Waterside District downtown Norfolk—organizers from Cousinz Festival and JustUs Ideas brought together state and national leaders to discuss culture, criminal justice reform and civic engagement. The weekend continues with the Cousinz Festival starting today at 2 p.m. at Scope Arena as community leaders emphasize youth engagement. WAVY
- ➤ Local artist Brandon Parr will perform live on Acoustic Highway this Sunday night at 9 p.m. on 89.5 as he talks music and plays tracks from his new release Anti-Everything — the show will also feature work-themed songs honoring Labor Day weekend. WHRO
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norfolk residents and groups will join the 40th International Coastal Cleanup to remove litter and collect data to help prevent future pollution. The kickoff event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at Lafayette Park—another cleanup effort is set for Friday, Sept. 26 as the overall event runs from Sept. 1 to Nov. 1. - ➤ Norfolk CERT is offering free training in life-saving skills—Heimlich technique, hands-only CPR, AED use, stop the bleed, and fire extinguisher training—to any department and staff without giving certification.
