- ➤ The trial for Bruce Hisle, charged with first-degree murder in the death of 84-year-old James Carter outside the Triple-C Convenience Store on Lindenwood Avenue, began Tuesday after long jury selection—prosecutors said they will rely on eyewitness testimony and forensic evidence to prove Hisle pulled the trigger. 3 WTKR
- ➤ Norfolk police are looking for 27-year-old Kwanesha Winfield who was last seen on July 16 in the 1300 block of Norcova Drive and is described as 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, and many face piercings; anyone with information should call 757-441-5610. WAVY

- ➤ Grammy winner Laufey will perform with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra today at Chartway Arena and will also appear on Thursday after high ticket sales prompted an added show & her blend of jazz and classical music has attracted a devoted local following under conductor Ross Jamie Collins. WHRO

- ➤ Norfolk’s Half Moone Cruise Center will welcome the 2,400-passenger Norwegian Pearl weekly from April through August 2027—this itinerary stop will offer 20 port-of-call visits and is expected to bring nearly 49,000 extra visitors to boost local business. 13 News Now

- ➤ The Norfolk City School Board is asking for public feedback on hiring a new superintendent after ending Dr. Sharon Byrdsong’s term in June. The board will hold public meetings on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.—and on Aug. 23 at 10 a.m.—and has also provided an online survey with 11 questions to guide the selection process. 3 WTKR

- ➤ Norfolk’s Real Time Crime Center, launched in May 2024, has helped police solve crimes faster—using live video feeds, license plate readers, and data tools to guide officers during violent events. The center now operates 20 hours a day and shares video evidence with nearby jurisdictions to aid rapid arrests and increase local safety. 13 News Now

- ➤ CAN Community Health opened a 6,500-square-foot clinic off Kempsville Road that provides free HIV and STI care, including testing, treatment, primary care and telehealth services. The facility is designed to break the stigma and serve anyone in need—no matter their insurance or ability to pay. 13 News Now
