CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man was shot on the 900 block of Bagnall Road overnight Monday — he is at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries and police are investigating the incident. WAVY
- ➤ Two men were sentenced for stealing musical instruments, firearms and personal items from a Norfolk self-storage facility in 2023 - one received two years and six months in prison with supervised probation while the other was given two months with additional suspended custodial time pending good behavior. WAVY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On July 1, the Virginia DMV launched the Blue Envelope Program to help drivers with autism by giving them a special card that informs officers about their needs during traffic stops and crash investigations—this free card also lets caregivers add key documents like a driver’s license and insurance. A local mother said her 16-year-old son studied his driving manual well even though he still feels nervous on the road. 3 WTKR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Norfolk Health Department will host a Back-to-School Community Day on July 24 at 830 Southampton Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., where families can get free physicals, immunizations, a gaming bus and other resources.
