  • On Friday, the first day of summer, homeowners in Hampton Roads struggled with broken air conditioners as temperatures hit 90°—technician Paul Bobadillalauder from One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning said he received calls for repairs on clogged drains and failed capacitors. CRIME NEWS

  • Portsmouth police said a double shooting on Elm Avenue left 39-year-old Omar Tyron Evans dead at the scene and 43-year-old Alice Otealia Watson dead later at a hospital, and detectives are asking for help to identify two armed-and-dangerous suspects seen in surveillance footage.  3 WTKR
  • A man was shot on Evergreen Street in Norfolk on Friday and was taken to a hospital with a non life-threatening wound — Norfolk Police are investigating the shooting.  WAVY
  • Norfolk Police said they found a dead female bully breed dog in a cage near Rippard Avenue and O'Conner Crescent on May 31 — and PETA is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.  3 WTKR

  • Norfolk Public Schools Superintendent Sharon Byrdsong will be honored at a City Council meeting on Tuesday at City Hall at 6 p.m.—Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander will present her with a resolution for her 27 years of service.  WAVY
