Hampton Roads Transit will overhaul its bus network starting in May 2027, discontinuing 14 routes and adding stops including new service from Downtown Norfolk to the airport.

The plan will boost service on 13 backbone routes — and offer OnDemand rides in lower-population areas.

Chesapeake Public Schools are updating policies after parent Jennifer Economy pressed for safer diabetes care accommodations; new state laws effective July 1 allow students to carry supplies and receive help from trained staff.

Schools are also using a remote blood sugar monitoring program to boost safety.
