- ➤ On June 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Norfolk Animal Care Center and Norfolk Public Library will host Waggin’ Readin’ & Craftin’ at Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library—featuring a mobile pet adoption event, a pet food drive, summer reading sign-ups, and pet bandana making to kick off summer. Attendees can also sew pet beds during Sew-4-Service and receive a free pet tag if they adopt a pet in June. City of Norfolk
- ➤ Hampton Roads mourned longtime radio personalities Mark McKay and Jeff Moreau, who served local listeners for decades. McKay worked on 97.3 The Eagle before he died on Sunday after battling cancer—Moreau was remembered for his on-air charm and skill as an accomplished pilot. 3 WTKR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Norfolk volunteers are invited to help clean two parks on the first Saturday in June—Northside Park at 8400 Tidewater Dr., Shelter 1, and Lafayette Park at 3500 Granby St., at the KNB Office—to remove litter and protect the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, continuing a Clean the Bay Day tradition of over 30 years. - ➤ Candidates Ramin Fatehi and John Butler held a forum Tuesday at First United Presbyterian Church in Norfolk to discuss criminal justice ahead of the June 17 primary. Fatehi noted that crime has dropped in Norfolk while Butler said the office must do more—each candidate has earned endorsements from local leaders. 3 WTKR
