- ➤ The burned out Spirit of Norfolk left Hampton Roads and is being towed to Florida to be sunk as an artificial reef—Okaloosa County leaders approved the plan in June to create a reef off Destin-Fort Walton Beach. A fire in June 2022 had damaged the ship after it sailed the Elizabeth River for 30 years and it was re-christened on April 30. WAVY
