- ➤ Norfolk hosts a three-day Patriotic Festival on Memorial Day Weekend to honor military service and offer free activities like live music, games, tours, and a meet-and-greet with military dogs. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Restoration to the 175-year-old dome at the MacArthur Memorial is underway and will finish this fall. The project—funded by the city—repairs rotted wood and repaints the historic structure that once served as Norfolk’s first city hall, now housing General MacArthur’s resumé. WAVY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lynnhaven River Now is using $2.9 million in federal funds to remove 35 abandoned vessels, including the Carrie Anne from Navy property along Willoughby Bay. Restoration manager Vince Bowhers said the cleanup will prevent dangerous boats from being sold—thus reducing hazards to navigation and water pollution. WAVY
