- ➤ A Norfolk man who stole $27,000 from a local nonprofit was sentenced to nine months in jail on May 2 and received an additional five years and four months suspended if he maintains three years of good behavior — the judge said he breached trust and damaged the organization. WAVY

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Boyd Gaming pledged $1 million to Norfolk State University today to support its Tourism and Hospitality Management program in the School of Business—becoming the title sponsor of the department. The donation is part of a larger plan to build job opportunities as the company works with the Pamunkey Tribe on its upcoming Norfolk casino resort, which will open a transitional gaming facility in late 2025 with a permanent site to follow in late 2027.
