- ➤ During Teacher Appreciation Week, WHRO Vice President Maurice Jones recalled how his eighth grade science teacher Mrs. Palmer guided him to serve as a page, apply for college, and secure a scholarship that set him on a new path. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After years of delays, the DHS Real ID deadline begins tomorrow so Norfolk International Airport travelers must show a Real ID or an alternative like a passport+military ID, and officials say those without one will face extra screening though the process remains quick. WAVY
- ➤ Norfolk Community Services Board will host two hiring events at 7447 Central Business Park Dr to fill roles in mental health, social services, and counseling. The events are set for May 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. — and May 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with new hires eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus. City of Norfolk
- ➤ Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed a law that limits Flock camera data use to criminal cases—such as missing persons and human trafficking—with data stored for 21 days. The law, which expands the cameras’ use to state highways, takes effect July 1. WAVY
