- ➤ Norfolk State University was placed under a shelter-in-place order on Wednesday just before 12:30 a.m. after reports of shots fired near Spartan Suites Residential Hall—an investigation soon showed there was no gunfire and lifted the alert about an hour later. WAVY
- ➤ Norfolk police reported a man was seriously injured after a shooting on the 900 Block of Tunstall Avenue Tuesday night—he was taken to a hospital. 3 WTKR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Construction of the casino near Harbor Park is progressing steadily and is expected to create 800 jobs. Norfolk State University will offer a new course in gaming management this fall—designed to provide local students with the skills needed for these jobs. 3 WTKR

- ➤ Gov. Youngkin vetoed retail marijuana legislation for the second time to block a retail market as lawmakers tried since 2021 to allow sales.
