- ➤ On April 25th around 1:55 p.m., Norfolk Police charged 37-year-old Charlene D. Carey-Chavez after she returned to an area tied to an earlier assault and produced a weapon on Sewells Point Road near Avenue J, which led officers to discharge their firearms and cause a life-threatening wound — she is in the hospital for treatment and will be taken to Norfolk City Jail upon her release. - ➤ Norfolk police shot 37-year-old Charlene Carey-Chavez on Friday when she brandished a firearm and did not drop it during a disorderly incident near East Little Creek Road and the 7600 Block of Sewells Point Road—she now faces charges for assault and battery, grand larceny and brandishing a firearm while she receives treatment at a hospital. 3 WTKR

- ➤ On May 8, the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk will host Holocaust survivor Dr. Roger Loria as he shares his survival story to mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe (doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m. at 150 Bank St).
