  • The City of Norfolk has placed traffic cone monsters this week to raise work zone awareness. The cone figures—Burghy, Seymour and Binker—appear on Princess Anne Road, Tidewater Drive and St. Paul's Boulevard to remind drivers to respect the zone for their safety.  13 News Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Motorists on Interstate 264 in Norfolk face delays from a multi-vehicle crash near Campostella Road — the westbound right shoulder is closed while emergency crews work to clear the scene.  13 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Norfolk Police arrested 20-year-old Zakeyis A. Womack after a shooting at Norfolk State University on April 19th—two 22-year-old men were shot and taken to the hospital, where they are expected to recover.  City of Norfolk
  • A 57 year old woman was wounded after a stabbing on April 19 in the 6200 block of Colgate Avenue in Norfolk—police arrested 34 year old Howard P. Randle II on charges of malicious wounding and domestic assault.  WAVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A down payment assistance program in Norfolk that offers up to $60,000 for first-time home buyers has gone viral on social media, and officials reported it received 400 applications on its first day—funds for this cycle are now exhausted with a new round set to begin on July 1.  13 News Now
  • Volunteers from 20 NATO countries are working on floats in a Norfolk public works garage for the 72nd NATO parade that will take place on Saturday, April 26 — followed by a festival at Town Point Park. Parade director Alex Pincus said the event celebrates Norfolk's long ties with NATO even as officials review the alliance's role.  WHRO
