- ➤ Michael Talley’s body remains at Metropolitan Funeral Home more than seven months after he died on Sept. 15th, 2024 at a shopping center on Colley Avenue because officials still need a doctor’s signature on his death certificate for cremation (health officials are reviewing records from Sentara Norfolk General to locate the last doctor who treated him). His siblings say they have contacted local health departments, and no foul play was found in his death. WAVY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The City of Norfolk invites local artists to apply for a public art project at Barraud Park as part of a $4.5 million park revitalization. The project, with a budget of $115,000, will require proposals by May 12—artists should create work that honors the park's historic legacy. City of Norfolk
- ➤ Norfolk’s Cousinz Festival will feature headliners Jeezy, T-Pain, and Lil Kim on August 30 at the Norfolk Scope Grounds—co-founders Pusha T and Fam-Lay with business manager Antonio Dowe also announced local DJs, additional acts, and The Stormy Blue Food Truck Experience. Tickets go on sale with a Locals Only Pre-Sale on April 25, followed by an online presale for previous ticket holders with general sales starting May 1. 3 WTKR
- ➤ The 2nd Annual Cousinz Festival will take place on Saturday August 30 at Norfolk Scope featuring headliners Jeezy, T-Pain and Lil Kim along with acts like DJ Clue and local DJs. Tickets begin with a locals only on-site pre-sale on April 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—general public sales start May 1 at 10 a.m.—and the event will also introduce The Stormy Blue Food Truck Experience. - ➤ The U.S. Department of Education will resume collecting defaulted student loans on May 5, affecting nearly 5.3 million borrowers—ODU freshman Prince Adams said he will begin working this summer to pay down his debt and urged classmates to review available financial resources. WAVY

- ➤ Police arrested Eugene Martin, 36, on April 14 for a triple shooting on Haygood Road that sent three people to the hospital — he faces eight charges. The Navy will meet at Northside Middle School on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. to discuss removing 400 trees interfering with flight paths while the Education Department will begin collecting defaulted student loans on May 5 and meteorologist Myles Henderson says warm weather today with afternoon storms is expected. 3 WTKR
