On Saturday morning, about 20 neighbors cleaned the historic Freemason District by picking up trash, clearing gutters and sweeping sidewalks — efforts led by retired Navy admiral Jack Kavanaugh to keep debris from reaching the Elizabeth River as the Freemason Street Area Association encourages future community cleanups.
