- ➤ On Wednesday, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore hosted a winter relief mobile food distribution at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater parking lot to help locals facing rising winter expenses and post-holiday bills, while state senators approved $1.5 million for a new facility. 13 News Now

- ➤ Coastal geologist Christopher Hein warned that rising sea levels and steady storms are increasing flooding and erosion in Hampton Roads, where local officials are planning long-term adaptations (including beach nourishment and flood mitigation) to protect homes and roads. 13 News Now
- ➤ Birders in Virginia will take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count from Feb. 13–16 to record sightings and support local research. A guided winter birding hike will be held Sunday, Feb. 15 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at First Landing State Park (2500 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach). 13 News Now

- ➤ City leaders approved paying H&M $1.5M to end its lease early at MacArthur Center — which closes June 30 for redevelopment. The new lease termination is set for Sept. 30, 2026 with a 60-day notice starting May 1. 3 WTKR
- ➤ Hampton Roads Transit received $850K in federal funding to expand its ADA-accessible paratransit fleet in Norfolk through a congressional spending bill secured by Congressman Bobby Scott. The funding is expected to benefit roughly 36,000 riders monthly for work and medical appointments. 3 WTKR
- ➤ Virginia State Parks will reopen campgrounds on March 6 with burn restrictions in effect from Feb. 15 through April 30. Campers may use gas grills (propane stoves also allowed) but should verify park-specific guidelines for personal grill use. 3 WTKR
- ➤ VA Secretary Collins told lawmakers that Chesapeake’s North Battlefield VA Clinic has filled only 335 of 534 positions since opening, missing its January full-staff goal. The $62 million facility continues offering all scheduled services amid ongoing recruitment challenges — new hiring ads are expected soon. WHRO
